中国の友人からのメール

昨年1月にソウルでお会いした、政治哲学を専攻する中国の博士の方からチャットでメッセージをいただきました。

Hi brother, hope everything will be better soon. I've been constantly watching the updates of the quake.
I and my family think your country fellows are great, brave, dedicated and united in front of the appalling disaster.
Like you said, you can't do much. You know, I was there when the quake hit Sichuan on May 12, 2008. My major was Political Philosophy, and I thought I could help the nation when I picked up it. But actually I was the person needing help, I felt I was useless and soon went into depression. And I hated my choice, I wish I had chose to be a rescuer or become a rich business person. But soon, maybe several years later, you'll find your value by telling people all your reflections, all the memories of the afterquakes in your mind. That way, you'll be really inheriting the respected Japanese spirit. And, I'll be happy for you, as a Chinese brother:)
I'll be back to work, and will keep watching the new updates. Take good care, and you guys are not alone!
